Why I Joined RentReporters:

My credit score was low – 566 – and I wasn’t happy with where my life was. I had been denied credit cards and applications to rent apartments. I was also tired of renting, but with my low credit score, I knew that I wouldn’t be approved for a home loan.

Part of the problem was that I had little understanding of credit. All I really knew was that credit was important, but I didn’t know the different ratings and how they worked, what was a revolving account, importance of on time payments, and why closed accounted mattered. I didn’t know what was impacting my score and how.

I joined Credit Warriors to help me learn what I could do to improve my credit score. Through Credit Warriors, I learned about RentReporters and how reporting my on time rent payments could build my score. So, I signed up, and in about 15 days, my score went up 44 points to 610!

After Joining RentReporters:

With my new and improved credit score, I am much more confident that I can get a home mortgage. I recently spoke with a loan officer, and we’re now looking to see what loans I can get. Before, I would have never been able to do that.

Now that I have a better understanding of credit and what I need to do to keep building my score, I am vigilant with everything I do with my finances. I know that I have to be responsible with what I apply for, and I pay all my bills on time.
