Shelly

My credit took a dive after my husband and I separated. While we were married, all the bills were under my name, and he paid the bills. When we separated, he suddenly stopped paying them, and as a result, my credit score went down to the low 600s!

After I read about RentReporters, I decided to sign up. Before then, I didn’t know my rent payments could be reported to the nationwide credit reporting agencies to help build up my credit score. Within two to three weeks of becoming a RentReporters customer, my credit score went up, and today, my score went from 624 to 716!

Before I came to the United States, I understood little about credit. I knew the basics, like you needed to have a good credit score if you wanted to buy a home. As one of the millions with a low credit score, I did not have access to what many people may take for granted. I was repeatedly denied when I applied for a credit card. Additionally, because of my low credit score, I knew that I would not be approved for a good loan to buy a home or a car

Then, I heard about RentReporters. I never knew that reporting my on-time rent payments could help me improve my credit score. So, I signed up, and in one week, my score increased by 30 points!

Judy

I have been very happy with the service provided by Rent Reporters! As a renter in very expensive housing market (Washington, DC), I was spending thousands of dollars on rent that was not reflected on my credit report, which had some dings following a period of unemployment in 2014.

When I signed up with Rent Reporters, my year’s worth of on-time rent payments showed up on my credit report, along with my continuing monthly payments. This has resulted in an increase in my credit score, which is very helpful for future credit applications, lease applications, insurance premium ratings, and possible even employment opportunities! Thank you so much for a wonderful service!

Frequently Asked Questions

Once your rental verification and landlord validation are complete, it generally takes about 5 business days for your credit report to be updated. Once your verification is complete, your rent history will appear on your credit report under the tradeline “RentReporters/Residence”.

Unfortunately the scoring models used by the bureaus are not published and therefore, we are unable to predict the affect on your score. However, we do expect that reporting a positive rent history will increase your credit score. It is not unusual for a score to increase by 50 points. Read what our customers are saying.

RentReporters is so confident that adding your on-time rent payments to your credit report will have such a significant impact, that if you’re not delighted with the initial increase in score, we will issue a refund. A refund request must be submitted to us within 48 hours from the time we notify you that your rental history has been added to your credit report. Please note that when a refund is processed, we’ll simultaneously be REMOVING your rental history from your credit report, which will also adjust your credit score back to where it would have been had the rent not been reported.

Nearly all the landlords and property managers we have worked with are happy to assist with the validation process. However unfortunately, if you landlord is unwilling to cooperate we are unable to report your rent history to the credit bureaus.
